A special weekend

There is no Bihu in Luanda. However, yesterday (April 17) the only two Assamese in Luanda celebrated it anyway with some authentic Assamese meal (duck, fish, and khaar) – thanks to Dr. Prodip Saikia, listening to Bihu songs from an ipod and sipping some red wine. This was probably the first Bihu in Angola (or perhaps in all of Africa). It just doesn’t seem right- no matter where you are-not to pause at Bihu time if you have a little Assamese in you.

This morning, I took a tour of Lunada’s historic buildings organized by the Angola Field Group. Luanda has more to offer than just the dark side one hears about. I hope glory days will be here soon.

Then I went off to Club Corimba where our Company team was to play basket ball against another company team (BAI) under a hot sun. The sporting events were organized by TOTAL. Our boys played hard, although the end result was not in our favour. It’s all part of the game.

This afternoon we had our usual weekly family chat (skype). The weekend has come to its closing time. Next weekend I am playing Ping-Pong. My partner (Gordon) just got a couple of paddles, but we don’t have any ping pong balls. So, we will hit the balls only when we face our opponent next weekend. It’s for fun anyway.
