News: good & bad

Our older daughter and her fiancé have set a date and reserved places in San Francisco for their wedding next year. I think it is going to be fun planning and preparing for the wedding. No, I don’t quite feel like the “Father of the Bride” of the movie version yet. We also have two weddings to attend next month. The younger daughter in NY starts her 2nd year post baccalaureate classes tomorrow. The older one bid adieu to SFO and moved to Chicago yesterday. Yesterday my wife also left for India for two weeks. So, it’s just Tigger and me again for a few days.

Now for the bad news, cancer took another person away from our little community. Cancer came back for another one. My ex-boss (from the company I left only two weeks ago), who is about my age, had a massive heart attack in Denver on a business trip. He had to be “life flighted” to a Denver hospital. He is still in an ICU hooked up to all sorts of equipment, but making a steady progress.

Yesterday I watched a firework display from our back yard. I suppose it was to celebrate Labor Day. The irony is that the laborers of the world continue to toil (especially in poorer countries) for meager earnings. It’s a Labor Day holiday today. Other than a bike ride this morning, I decided to do practically nothing - no barbeque, no nothing. There was plenty of left over in the refrigerator. I had to just “microwave” it. Personally, I can't complain about a thing.

Tomorrow will be a whole new day.

Red River - Mami called Ma. All's well at my end, still recovering from the loss. And fighting a losing battle to lift the spirits of the departed's family.
